Open House Tips for the Seller

  1. Invite the neighbors - Neighbors can be great sources of information about the area and may know others who would like to live in the same neighborhood. They may be able to help spread the word about your property.
  2. Maximize curb appeal - Ensure that the outside of your home looks as appealing as possible. Mow the lawn and weed garden beds. Store bikes, toys and lawn equipment to ensure the safety of people looking at your home. Also, move vehicles from the driveway and front curb to provide parking.   3. Neat and clean sells - Potential buyers will want to view all areas of the home. The more positive impression that can be created for the buyer will increase their excitement about purchasing the home. Remove clutter, replace light bulbs if necessary and rearrange furniture to create an open feel and let people move easily through the home.
  4. Let the sun shine in - Nothing improves the feel of a space like natural light. Open curtains and blinds in appropriate rooms. If you have a fireplace, consider lighting it for a cozy feel. During warm weather opening the windows adds a nice touch.
Open House Tips for the Buyer
  1. Pound the pavement - Real Estate sales professionals encourage their buyers to visit a significant number of open houses. While the internet is a wonderful way to get an idea of a property and compare different features it cannot replace actually seeing a home. Seeing different homes can help a buyer determine what they actually want in home and what types of home are in their price range.
  2. Communicate with your Quade Real Estate agent - Buyers should be in contact with their agent about attending open houses. If you see an open house that is not listed with Quade Real Estate, call your agent to attend the open house with you, or let the agent at the open house know that you are working with Julie or Sonja.
  3. Take notes - Especially if you are attending many open houses, taking notes will help you remember what you did and did not like about each property. This will also help you compare properties later based on the features of each home.
